Method

Having worked with Heathcote Grenache fruit since 2015, we have come to appreciate just how well suited the variety is to our region. In 2023, we deliberately chose to graft Grenache into our own vineyard, believing this expressive variety deserved a place of its own on our site. The 2025 vintage marks the first harvest of these vines and, while Grenache has long featured in our Rosé, this is our first opportunity to showcase the variety as a single-varietal red wine.
 

Results

Fragrant and expressive, with lifted florals and an abundance of red and purple fruits. Raspberry, red cherry and juicy plum are layered with delicate spice and subtle savoury notes. The palate is supple and fruit-driven, with fine tannins, gentle freshness and restrained oak. Lighter on its feet than our Shiraz, but with no shortage of flavour or personality.

Conclusion

Grenache has long been valued as a blending variety, however its natural perfume, vibrant fruit and supple structure make it equally deserving of attention as a single varietal wine. This first release from our own vineyard reflects our approach to the variety – minimal intervention, restrained oak and a focus on preserving brightness and varietal character. The style is an expressive, medium-bodied Grenache with generosity, balance and approachability.
