Have we not all earned it this year?!! We’re launching our inaugural 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS WINE CALENDAR to celebrate all that’s great about the 2020 festive season – summer days, surprises, the end of 2020, and enjoying great wine, whilst enjoying, the end, of 2020.
The Heathcote Women in Wine is launching Australia’s first regional Christmas wine calendar, with a 12 Days of Christmas surprise collection. As one of a handful of initiatives launched by the group in 2020, this thoughtfully curated calendar includes 12 individual half bottles (375ml) from six of the region’s celebrated boutique producers. Recipients are invited to celebrate in the true spirit of the ’12 days of Christmas’ by opening each door to reveal a surprise wine from the 25th of December until the 6th of January. Alternatively, if they can’t wait (no judgement here) count down the days leading up to Christmas.
Together we selected a variety of highly regarded wines, including current & cellar releases, giving the calendar a broad experience of our regional offering. There are no double-ups, and we have catered for everyone with a mix of 3 whites, 3 rosés, 2 shiraz, 1 Italian red varietal & 3 red wine blends.
This unique offering comes from producers with quality wines including 4.5, 5 stars and a Red 5 star Halliday rating; 2 wineries have also achieved Top Winery status in Australia by The Real Review 2020, as well as a bag of shiny tokens from wine shows.
This selection of wines received acclaim from critics, including:
• Trophy winner at 2020 RASQ 2020 Wine Show and Mediterranean Challenge
• Gold Medal at the 2019 Boutique Wine Show
• Gold medal Royal Adelaide Show 2020
• 4 Stars in The Real Review December 2019
• A 93 Point wine in Halliday’s Wine Companion 2021
• Wines from 2 wineries awarded 5 black star ratings in Halliday’s Wine Companion
• Wines from another winery rates 5 red stars in Halliday’s Wine Companion
• Silver medal in the 2020 Winewise Small Vigneron Awards
The 12 days of Christmas Wine Calendar is $199 including free delivery.

ABOUT HEATHCOTE WOMEN IN WINE
The collaboration behind the Heathcote Women in Wine is a positive story amongst the challenges of COVID-19 lockdowns. In May we joined together for a session as part of Sanguine Estate’s virtual wine tastings on Facebook Live and Zoom. With our cellar doors closed, it was a powerful way to reconnect with our customers and find some positives in lockdown. Sanguine Estate expanded its weekly virtual tastings to include a new collaboration, ‘Heathcote Women in Wine’- celebrating the Heathcote region, and the many professional women contributing to our thriving industry.
From there we expanded to offering mixed wine packs (an often rare regional offering for wine lovers). These wines were based on the women choosing a wine in their range that was close to their hearts. Interestingly this resulted in a different variety being chosen by each; further emphasising Heathcote’s growing diversity. Today the region is expanding rapidly on the recognised, celebrated and highly awarded Shiraz – to the plethora of new wave Italian, French and Spanish varietals.
With the brief re-opening of our Cellar Doors in June, four of the six participants joined together to form the Heathcote Women in Wine trail (with the 5th member yet to re-open and the 6th yet to establish a cellar door). The co-ordination of this trail has allowed visitors to explore Heathcote’s cellar door offerings on a perfectly timed booking system at four vineyards located within 10 minutes of each other.
More recently, the Heathcote Women in Wine Facebook has been established (@Heathcotewomeninwine) and the 12 Days of Christmas Wine Calendar designed and launched. We look forward to furthering offerings into the future including a Wine Dinner in 2021.
“Not only has the coronavirus instilled a strong sense of community spirit among us but in our case developed some lifelong business associations and friendships. I have absolutely loved working with these women who are like-minded, energetic, innovative, entrepreneurial, prepared to do anything and get their hands dirty and just great human beings”
– Jodi Marsh, CEO of Sanguine Estate.
